Jazz Choir meets at 16.30 All welcome Before evening services, the Jazz Choir meets to rehearse at 16.30. Come and join us if you would like to! St Anne's is has been associated with Jazz Worship for more than 20 years. Jazz Vespers take place once a month, usually at 18.00 on the 4th Sunday of the month. We also often have special services, including the ever-popular Jazz Carols. The well-known musicians and educators, Scott Stroman and Charlie Beale, usually lead the music, and other famous faces to have made appearances here recently have included Tina May, Leanne Carroll, Alex Garnett and LD Frazier.
For more information click on the links below Charlie Beale Originally trained as an organist, Dr. Charlie Beale studied music at Trinity Hall Cambridge, and later jazz at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he won the Rose Morris Prize. Since then he has taught jazz at many levels, from time as full-time high school teacher to his current role as Professor of Jazz Piano at the Royal College of Music in London, where he lectures in jazz history, teaches jazz piano, and in 2003 will be directing the Big Band. As lead jazz consultant for the Associated Board, Charlie runs clinics for jazz educators and their pupils in the UK, US, Australia, New Zealand, and the Far East. He has been a key player in the development of innovative jazz publications, clinics and assessments from beginner to high school level, including his successful book Jazz Piano from Scratch. Charlie successfully completed his Ph.D. on jazz education, and is in growing demand as a writer, recently contributing the article on Jazz Education in the Oxford Companion to Jazz. He continues to find time for a flourishing freelance career which includes choral conducting at major venues internationally, pop session work, musicals, and regular jazz gigs in and around London.
